Joining us from New York, the Philip Glass Ensemble makes a triumphant return to Cambridge following their sell-out Festival performance in 2014.

Philip Glass’s music is instantly recognizable for its tonal chords, pulsing rhythms, and hypnotic repetition of shifting note patterns. Sitting somewhere between Classical and Rock, it is intricately constructed yet based on familiar harmonies and clean electronic sounds.

“Glassworks,” his 1981 cult classic, was composed for the new ‘Walkman generation’ in easily digestible short tracks. It remains iconic four decades later.

The Philip Glass Ensemble, a ‘laboratory’ for his new ideas, performs “Glassworks” and other works with trademark precision and super-human focus.

Programme includes:

Rescue from Satyagraha

Funeral from Akhnaten

The Photographer Act III
