Phaedra Ensemble: Young Composers Concert
Discover the amazing talents of young composers at this concert showcasing commended entries in the 2020 East Anglian Young Composer Competition.
The pieces to be performed have all been written by young people aged 18 and under who were invited to compose a piece of music up to five minutes long for violin and piano inspired, if they wished, by the theme of Isolation.
The compositions will be played by violinist Phillip Granell and pianist Matthew Drinkwater, members of the Phaedra Ensemble, a group of professional musicians proactive in commissioning and performing new music.
The concert will also include two specially commissioned works by the joint winners of the 2019 East Anglian Young Composer of the Year, Olivia Ransome and Henry Alexander.
At the end of the concert the three age group winners (12 and under, 13-15 and 16-18 years) will be announced together with the overall winner, the new East Anglian Young Composer of the Year.
This concert is presented by CMF in partnership with Cambridge Youth Music (CYM). CYM founded and run this composition competition which is open to children from Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Norfolk and Suffolk.
